The Week End in the Galiyat tour is a refreshing mountain escape that combines scenic hill stations, pine-covered landscapes, and leisurely hiking experiences in some of Pakistan’s most beautiful highland destinations. Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Galiyat region is renowned for its cool climate, dense forests, colonial heritage, and spectacular mountain scenery, making it one of the country’s most popular year-round retreats.
The journey begins in Nathiagali, the highest and arguably the most picturesque of the Galiyat hill stations, located at an elevation of 2,410 metres above sea level. Surrounded by thick pine, cedar, and oak forests, the area offers peaceful walking trails and magnificent views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The charming bazaar and remnants of British colonial architecture add historical character to this serene mountain retreat.
One of the highlights of the tour is the scenic hike from Nathiagali to Dungagali via Lalazar Park, Mashkpuri Top, and the famous Pipeline Track. The trail passes through lush forests and offers stunning views of rolling hills, alpine meadows, and distant Himalayan peaks. The excursion to Ayubia National Park provides an opportunity to appreciate the region’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty.
The tour concludes with a visit to Murree, Pakistan’s most famous hill station. Known for its colonial history, cool climate, and panoramic landscapes, Murree offers charming viewpoints, historic churches, and lively bazaars that perfectly complement the natural experiences of the Galiyat.

In the morning drive to Nathiagali which, at 2410m, is the highest of the various hill stations established by the British Raj. It is surrounded with pine forests, and there are various small hikes one can do in the area. Upon arrival at Nathiagali, transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon stroll around the chaotic bazaar, where some of the buildings were established during the British Raj. One can also explore the area on foot, and depending on fitness there are three trails ranging from 5 to 10 kms that one can enjoy. Overnight stay at the hotel.
This morning set out on a hike that starts in Nathiagali and takes one to Lalazar Park, Mashkpuri top, Dungagali, and the ‘Pipeline’ which is about 16 kilometers. For those not willing to do the entire trip, our vehicle will pick them up about half way. At the end of the hike visit the Ayubia National Park and Chairlift, before proceeding to the hotel in Muree for overnight.
Today visit Murree a popular hill resort, which was once the famous summer hill station for the British Army during colonial rule and was established in 1851. The British army built some very high standard school and colleges in the area, such as Lawrence College and Jesus & Mary Convent. Murree is situated at an altitude of 2300 m above sea level and the panorama of forest clad ridges and majestic pines on thickly wooded slopes are a feast for the eyes. Upon arrival take a stroll on the famous Mall Road of Murree. Continue sightseeing of Kashmir point, Pindi point and Holy Trinity Church, which dates back to 1857. After these visits, drive back to Islamabad.

The region can be visited throughout the year. Spring and summer (March to September) offer pleasant weather and lush greenery, while winter brings beautiful snowfall to the hill stations.
Yes. The trails range from easy to moderate, and participants can choose shorter sections of the hike if they do not wish to complete the entire route.
